We all know by now that not having a trip to plan for, makes James and Mike unhappy boys indeed.
So, in the spirit of previous TAF adventures, a decision was made over a couple of beers that, instead of shipping a newly built Sling 2 to Belgium, James would take the "customer acceptance flight" to a new level. He's doing this by flying the new owner to Belgium, via the East Coast of Africa. So, in the second week of May this year, James Pitman and Pierre van Wetter will be flying a Sling 2 to SONACA in Belgium!
She has recently had her Airmaster Whirlwind Propeller fitted, and you can see that she is progressing well in preparation for her African and European adventure. The wings are on, and those of you who have followed our previous ATW adventures, will notice the wide positioning of the landing lights, accommodating the long range fuel tanks required for a trip of this magnitude.
This thread will serve as an ongoing series, following the progress of the build, to the flight itself.
We are setting up a chat page, a tracker page and will be updating progress and sharing stories and daily updates on Avcom, our website and Facebook. Departure date is set for the 3rd of May, and the flight will route directly to Dar-es-Salaam.
Finally, as always we will be watching the intrepid travellers closely via the IndigoSat tracking device, and will be providing weather and wind updates as they happen.
We are insanely excited about another adventure, and hope that as many of you, as always, log in and wish us well.
